App extensibility is a priority for the first half of 2016. It will be different from the design patterns used in the Classic product’s Library and Reading SDK, but it will satisfy many of the same use cases. In fact, our goal is to deliver deeper, cross-platform extensibility than the Classic product allowed. Please keep an eye on the status page (https://status.adobedps.com) for announcements and updates.

The DPS 2015 desktop web viewer is now available as a limited beta.In this limited beta, the web viewer *only supports* HTML articles and InDesign-authored PNG or JPG raster articles. Support for InDesign-authored PDF articles will be included in the general release (currently targeting mid-December). Additionally, note that support for 3 InDesign overlay types (audio, image sequence, and pan & zoom) will not be available until early 2016.To sign up for this limited beta, send me a private messa...

We're hoping to provide some limited access to the web viewer in late November, which would be enabled by Adobe rather than self-service through the dashboard. It will support just HTML articles and InDesign raster (not PDF) at that time. We'll post a message in the forums if we can provide this limited access.Support for InDesign PDF, as well as the ability to self-enable web viewer in the dashboard, is targeting end of year.Brian

Hi Tommy,1) There's no special logic to link to apps in an enterprise app store, but I don't see why it wouldn't work if it's web reachable from the device.2) If you're asking about linking to content in a DPS app, there's a "Link Reference" option in project settings, which will eventually be used for linking to an app from outside the app, but it's currently not supported. If you're asking about linking to other apps, this is standard OS functionality and I've successfully deep linked to an HT...

We’re pleased to announce the prerelease of an Acrobat plugin that converts PDFs to DPS 2015 articles. You can read about the Adobe DPS Converter for Acrobat in the DPS blog and request an invitation to the prerelease by emailing dps-acrobat-converter-feedback@adobe.com.This provides value for organizations that have existing PDFs on network drives or services like SharePoint, that would be useful in your DPS app. Or perhaps your team is more comfortable authoring content in software like Word th...

It's a limitation that the DPS Classic web viewer doesn't support swiping for slideshows.Brian

Yes, you could potentially create a separate Classic DPS application as a web-viewer only app and use DPS 2015 for your native app experiences. Assuming that by "interactions" you're referring to InDesign overlays (using the InDesign DPS plugin) like slideshow and video, DPS Classic supports them too.You could have a Classic DPS folio for each each DPS 2015 collection. As Ivan mentions, DPS 2015 is targeting a web viewer for release in the fall.Brian

Hi Willy,The APIs you've referenced are for DPS Classic (called Digital Publishing Suite rather than the newer Digital Publishing Solution ), which as Kristy points out, does provide some additional login options made possible with custom coding. There are no analogous APIs available in DPS 2015 (Digital Publishing Solution) and one can't write a custom app to access the same server-side APIs used by the out-of-the-box DPS apps. Thanks,Brian

Hi Simon, Importing PDFs into InDesign is the most direct way, but I understand your predicament with 1000s of PDFs. Some ideas: 1) Scripting InDesign to work with PDFs. There’s a script that works for Digital Publishing Suite (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/dps-pdf-to-indesign.html), although it hasn’t been (and won’t necessarily be) updated for Digital Publishing Solution. If you don’t want to update the script, you could potentially import into Digital Publishing ...
