This will be available in 6.2 as well as 6.1 FP1 hotfix.About default value for drop down, you can use placeholder text to display default text.Thanks,Sachin

It was issue in ES4 Designer but has been fixed in ES4 SP1 Designer.Please upgrade your Designer to ES4 SP1.
