This really seems like a no-brainer.  My org's fiscal calendar is not the standard calendar, as I'm sure many are, and reporting to leadership loses a lot of value if we cannot group by our own fiscal quarters or periods. Custom quarters can only take us so far.

I've been asked to do something similar to feed metadata to our DAM and automatically attaching a custom form would be tremendously helpful.

My users are very reluctant to leave the legacy home screen because there is no ability to call out late tasks.  This would help with adoption and overall perception of the platform.
