I need to make a http post request to an external API that is not REST, is this possible with the ACS External API activity? otherwise what are my options?

I am just starting on ACS, Can campaigns run without setting expiration so they run forever?What happens if a campaign was set an expiry date, how do we resume/remove the expiry date?How do I quickly check which campaigns had expired?Also please kindly share documentation around this.
