This would be immensely helpful in reducing clicks and creating a more user friendly interface. LOVE this idea! 

I would also love to be able to zoom out to an annual level. Currently, the only calendar views available are Gantt, Weekly, Monthly. With an annual view, you may loose some data like the object name, but you could still see days highlighted and click to find out more.
