Generally ,we encounter a situation where we want to define a data element on the fly and then use it in the interface for an event based rule Hence to achieve this, we can dynamically capture the value of the event, and can set it when defining the criteria for an event based rule, within the custom code block using below code: Var str= $(this).attr("linkname"); // This line will fetch the name of the link clicked when an event click rule is fired on clicking of a link on the page. _satellite.s...

Re: Event based Data Elements ParitMittal - Dynamic Tag Management
Hi Trench,When defining the criteria for an event based rule, within the custom code block we can dynamically capture the value of the event, and you can set it within that code block using: Var str= $(this).attr("class");// This line will fetch the class of the link clicked i.e. ga gainfo-[category]-[action]-[label]-[value] Var res=str.split("-"); // This line will split the string into an array on the basis of "-" Hence we will have an array of length 5 and res[1] =[category] , res[2]=[action]...

Cleve Young wrote... The second server call you show looks to be a Download link, indicating Analytics thinks you are downloading a certain type of file. If this is the case, try going into the Analytics Tool>Link Tracking section and either un-checking "Track download links", or if you do have download links you want tracked then find which file extension is triggering the call and remove it from the list. Re: document.write ParitMittal - Dynamic Tag Management
Hi Neha,DTM supports document.write(). The only thing which needs to be kept in mind is to change the syntax of tag within the document.write function. The reason why the above piece of your code is not working is that when we are embedding javascript in an HTML page the HTML parser when finds your first script tag will immediately try to find the closing tag. Since your closing script tag is in your document.write you'll find yourself in a pickle.Hence the piece of code should be modified as :<script>var value = somevaluegenerated;document.write('<script src="xyz.js?para1=one&para2=' + value + '"><\/script>');// This line is modifiedWe have also tested a piece of test code on our end and the code is perfectly working. Thanks & RegardsParit Mittal

Re: Fire a tag when div class is active ParitMittal - Dynamic Tag Management
Hi Yabagna,The problem you are facing from DTM is that you want to trigger events *not* by what the user does (clicks, hovers, etc), but rather by what your site is showing the user i.e fire tags when particular div class is active.Hence, In the above scenario Direct call based rule would be ideal to use instead of Event based rule.Your Javascript / Jquery making the div class "Active" should make a call: something like _satellite.track('div_active_call ') and then In DTM, create a direct rule a...

Re: <noscript> tag - should it be used? ParitMittal - Dynamic Tag Management
Hi Neha,In general it's always useful to use tag as tag defines an alternate content for users that have disabled scripts in their browser or have a browser that doesn't support script. Though in DTM , it is not meaningful to have tag as DTM is it's self a Javascript Library . However , tag can be useful only if it is added while adding the staging/ production code script on each and every page of the website. Please refer the below snippet of code as an example....... Javascript is not enabl...

Re: Discrepancy between monthly and daily visits ParitMittal - Dynamic Tag Management
Hi April,A visit is reported in each time period in which activity occurred. For example, suppose that a visit begins at 11:45 p.m. on Dec 1st, and continues until 12:30 a.m. on December 2nd. The visit is counted on December 1st and December 2. This reporting applies to other time periods, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.Hence when you look for Page visits for a page by day , it will be shown for both the dates i.e. December 1 and Dec 2.
