It will be same as how you read json in javaHere it shows how you can json in jsp ( configure it html markup )http://candidjava.com/json-array-with-jsp/I would not recommend this as you would need to write alot of java in JSP

U can use $ irrespective of way you load jquery

As Scott mentioned using $ is valid syntax and u can use it.Check the error in browser console when you are using '$'Make sure you use jquery code only once jquery library has been loaded.Are you trying to get click in event on particular class?
