Even if you are able to it would cost you a huge amount of time and efforts.Instead, I would suggest you to make a new component of whatever inside is multifield and then use data-sly-resource to add that component inside data-sly-list.Y...

Thank you @aanchal-sikka  for your reply. I see the problem was indeed with indexing. Someone had made a copy of lucene and renamed it to added a new property. Due to this, the existing functionality of AEM stopped working.
