  • One "Pro" worth mentioning is that SSO usually implies a greater level of security. It's one less password to remember and your organization likely enforces password policies (like changing every x days, complexity, not reusing, etc.) that you may not have enabled with WF because no one wants to hav...

  • Dustin: While I agree with everyone else here that this is a huge annoyance (people hate to click they are done with a task, the PM has to mark them 100% a majority of the time at my firm), the even larger problem I have seen is that if a Project is closed with these phantom complete tasks still on ...

  • This type of information would be great to capture. Carrying your idea further, moving that task/date would essentially create mini-Project Change Requests and raise awareness throughout management as to challenges that could be brewing. In general, this is my biggest problem with the way modern pla...

This would be helpful as we have many people with Tasks from Closed Projects showing up on their Timesheets. I guess this is in theory because they didn't mark that they were "Done with the Task" before the Project was Closed, but simply put we don't live in WF and never will so people don't plan t...

  • All: I have a somewhat similar problem to solve. We have an Issue Type of Change Request. Currently, we have to manually type in any budget changes as it relates to the project (Business Case Budget, Baselined Budget, Planned Budget, etc.) into our Change Request Custom Form on the Issue because whe...

  • In my experience, that is too granular. There is no harm in it but it raises the question of what the benefit is. If your template has thousands of tasks (which, since it's WF, having more than 200 starts to make it slow down anyway), then 15 minutes here and there can add up to a substantial amount...

  • As usual, Eric's responses are perfect. I did want to really emphasize his point that dates have a time element as well and how they can really trip things up when 1 day of duration appears on two days. This is usually the first thing I check when Planned Dates start looking wonky.

  • In addition to the Issue Type of Change Request the others have mentioned, we also have a step in our Workflow that the Change gets assigned back to the PMO Director for the last step and they go create a new Baseline and make it the default. We have a lot of metrics that track Budgeted vs. Baseline...

  • Ed, I was actually just about to ask whether any of the people who use it as a Service Desk platform heavily adhere to the ITIL framework. I was going to ask as I cannot imagine being able to use WF to do so. As a PM, I have been leading a project for our firm to move to ServiceNow for IT Service Ma...

  • If I'm not mistaken, Commit Date is generated by the Assignee (the Assignee goes into the Task and chooses the date they think they will have it done by) and thus a PM can't edit it. Our organization ignore Commit and Projected altogether and works entirely off the Planned Date so the PM can have th...
