Please see idea "Add a timer" and "Stop Watch Feature to Track Time Spent on a Task"that's a lot of votes?!

+1 we've spent a few weeks trying to find a way that makes assignments workable and roles are the closest thing we can use. Our problem is that I can't use the cost rates on roles because in order to keep assignments manageable (and not have umpteen levels of a discipline) we use more generic roles ...

@WF - please apply the same fix to Project templates :)
