Is your custom field in Date/Time format, or just Date? We had the same problem, and had to switch our custom date fields to Date /Time. I haven't tested your formulas yet, but wanted to check on that first.

Users expect that when a predecessor is completed, they would receive an email+notification that a predecessor has been completed. This is working for predecessors on a project, but not for cross project predecessors.Also needed is a notification when a cross-project successor due date has changed.
Although you can't type their name in a filter or prompt, you can search for the deactivated user and grab their ID from the URL and use that.
