Question around lookback windows in Criteria

Hi, I have a question around lookback windows within the criteria setup. What if your lookback window is set to 2 days -and a certain customer shops and purchases an item in that first day. But then they are off the site for a week. When they return, will it give them all backup plans (if there is no criteria sequence)? Or does the second day kick in, on the "second day" they visit our website? Hope that makes sense, thanks!

Hi @JamieSi1 ,

The lookback is the actual days and not the number of times a visitor visits your site. What the Criteria will show depends on the actual settings for it and what type it is. The lookback options are depending on type of criteria you're running. There's a great overview table on this page showing you the options.

If your Criteria is a user-based one with a short look-back window, but your visitor has a re-visit a week after his first visit, then the Critieria will show backups - assuming you have it enabled on the Criteria.
For popular and item-based criterias the lookback is taking data from all visitors, so i think it would be rare cases where nothing will be shown and thereby showing backups - again assuming backup is enabled on the Criteria.

I hope this clarifies?

Kind Regards,
Kasper
