Subform validate, exit events not firing when text input

I have a dynamic form created in Designer 8 and saved as a Reader 7-compatible Dynamic PDF. The form contains many pages and subforms. Many of the subforms have Validate and Exit scripts. If you enter a subform, ckick onm a text field (any text field), then click on another subform without typing any text, then the Validate and Exit scripts execute. If, however you type one or more chars in the text field before clicking on another subform, the Validate and Exit events do not fire at all. Other field types do not show this problem, only text boxes. This problem shows up in Reader 7 but not in Acrobat Professional.

The attached form demonstrates this problem. Open it in Reader 7, and on the first page, click on the Home Address field (but don't type anything). Then click on the "Employed" checkbox in the Employment subform. You should see a validation message pop up for the Personal Information. Click back on the Home Address field. Another popup will show validation problems for the Employment section. So far, so good. Now type a few characters in the Home Address field and click on the Employed checkbox again. No validation messige is displayed because the Validate and Exit events for the Basic Personal Information subform did not get triggered.

This form shows the same behaviour regardless of which text field or container subform you test. A static reader 6 version of the form does not show this behaviour either. Is this a known bug, and is there a work-around?

Thanks...
