Populating a database with form data

I am using Live Cycle 7.0 to create forms. I wish to use the http submit button to send the data from the form to an MS Access 2003 database. I have searched the knowledge base and help files, but I am lost. I do not understand what steps are needed to get this accomplished. If I have things set up properly, will the data automatically get included as a new record in the database or is there more software that needs to be in place to accomplish this?

I currrently have the database created and saved to a web address using Front Page. I specified the mdb file name in the http submit button url field. I do not really understand the binding, etc.

I have been able to create an xml file using the email button and can import the data into the access database locally on my hard drive, but this is too cumbersome to do for many records. The process needs to be automated and the literature seems to say that sending the data to a database is possible.

Can anyone steer me to what is needed?

Many thanks,

Betty

Betty - are you using Workflow as well? Have you seen the SQL QPAC? It comes with the SDK download.

If you are just using Forms - you may want to check out the Form Designer forum.

I haven't down this yet myself, so I don't know an actual answer to your question!

Hi Betty

This can be done, but it either requires a workflow to be designed, or a custom servlet to be written.

You will probably either need to:

- read the documentation and samples, and experiment

- attend an Adobe training course (they're excellent)

- get someone to write it for you (or at least get you started)

If you'd like to explore the latter, please email me at htreisman "at" avoka.com.
