Need solution similar to using script objects

I need a solution that acts like a script object.



We 'stitch' XDPs together to form one large PDF.

Unfortunately, the script objects (and variables)'fall off' after the first form.



I have been trying to call a function from within a button - but cannot seem to get that to work either. I've been concetrating on buttons (because I know they do not 'fall off', but will consider almost anything.



Any ideas?
