LiveCycle Designer 8 Problems - Underline, Fill Color, ETC.

Ok. I have a form that I need to get a customer ASAP. Everything is fine, but they want underlines on the text fields. I can do a border fine, but if I make it a single line border (underline) the border does not display at all. It displays in the preview PDF, but not in Acrobat. What is the deal? Don't they use the same rendering engine? I also have a text field that has a striped background. Only the solid color shows, not the stripes?

This is some really buggy software. Someone please respond. I can't find any help on this, and I committed to the project. I need to get this out soon.

Use Font Pallet to get Underline, text coloring. Use Shift+F4 to see Font Pallet.

Hope to see a smile face.

I don't want the text underlined, I want the field underlined. I apologize for not making that clear. I can make a full border fine, but if I hide one side, it doesn't display at all.

are you just looking for a line underneath field area...try add static line if that works.

Or try this: It worked for me....

1. add a textField

2. Choose Layout pallet>> set Caption to None.

3. Choose Object Pallet>>Field tab>> set Appearance to None.

4. Choose Border Pallet>> select Edit Individually>> select bottom most and set it to Solid

If that is not what you are looking and if you think I can help shoot me an email with attachment and describe little about the field. Here is my email Id 'meetsekharv AT yahoo.com'

Good luck,

So, that didn't work. I have over 200 fields on this form that need to be underlined. Since LiveCycle Designer has horrible drawing tools, I need this underline things to work.

How does a board full of experts not have anything to tell me?

Is it a content area thing? Is it a master page thing? Any suggestions even?

BTW, SekharN, thanks for the help; I do appreciate it.

Now I have an even bigger problem. I can't even draw in a line now. It will not show up in the final PDF. What is wrong with this software? I don't know how a company could release a product with so many bugs, and charge so much for it.

I'm having the same problem. I have a form that was created in Word that I turned into a PDF. Now I'm using LiveCycle Designer 8.0. I created a text field that I would like to have underlined. In the Object palette in the Field tab I can select None, Solid Box and Sunken box in the Appearance section and they show up okay. The underline does nothing. I've tried customizing it with different line widths and colors, but it still shows nothing.

Can anybody offer any suggestions?

Thank you!

This is a goofy thing that is going on and I hope it gets fixed in future releases. I have noticed that when working with borders that some times I will have to turn all of the borders to none then click the Ok button then go back and turn which ever border sides back on then click Ok to get them to show up.

I tried out three different fields with three different configurations and got all of them to work.

1. I set the caption to be at the bottom (Layout > Caption > Position > Bottom). Then I changed the appearance to underlined (Object > Field > Appearance > Underlined). I worked with the reserve setting to get the right distance of the caption from the underline (Layout > Reserve).

2. I did the same thing for the second field as the first only this time with the caption set to None.

3. Field three I did like the first one only this time instead of the appearance set to Underline I set the appearance to solid then selected Custom from the Appearance drop down and edited each of the border sides (Object > Field > Appearance > Custom). This was where I had to go back and set the bottom edge of the border to none, click Ok then go back to custom and set the bottom border edge to solid again before it would display.

I don't know if any of this helps or not.
