Hi,

I have a form which has a 2-D barcode (PDF417) for storing the information which user input. And the user will input some Chinese character in Big5. But I got some 'strange' character when scanned the barcode into a notepad which i didn't have any problem when scanning the English input.

Is Big5 supported?

I used Acrobat 8 professional to create and fill in the form.

Thanks a lot!

Regards,

By default the character encoding is UTF-8. However, this can be changed by using the new encoding selection in Designer 8 or by modifying the encoding property within the XML of the PDF.

I've uploaded a sample for you here:

In the XML, the barcode element would look something like this:

Just be aware that some hand scanners do not work well with double-byte character set encoding so you may want to perform your tests with a software based decoder to avoid problems.
