Grid Increments - Can I change?

Avatar

I need to draw some horizontal lines. When I hold shift, it draws them at 45 degree angles. So, I have concluded that the only way to draw a straight line is to have 'Snap to Grid' checked. But, the grid increments are too large for most of the lines I need to draw.

So, my questions is, "Can I change the size of the grid?" Could I have there be more subdivisions?

This is the first piece of software that I have ever used that:

a) I can't draw a straight line with shift (I think even MSPAINT.exe) does that.

b.) I can't adjust the size of the grid (at least easily, or visibly).

It is very easy to change the grid.

1. Open the Drawing Aids palette.

2. In the Interval: section enter the number of division per Units" you desire. For example I always design on a 20/in grid for both X: and Y:. So I would enter 20 in the X: and a 20 in the Y:

3. If you want a different Unit of Measure then go to the Units drop down and change the Units:.

To draw or snap a line:

1. Pull a line from the Library and place it on the form.

2. Drag the line to length.

3. Go to the Object tab and use the Appearance: selections to make the line horizontal, vertical, etc.

4. Reposition the line to where it needs to go.

If you are not exact with placing the line it will become an angled line and you need to use the Appearance: selections to "straighten" it out.
