Restricting Audience Creation

Avatar

Level 2

Hi Team,

I am looking for ways to restrict users to save audience in the system. I am anticipating high number of dummy/test audiences to be created once it is enabled for user access. Is there a way to restrict this? One approach I think can be to let them create (enable 'Create Audience' button), but not let them Save (disable 'Save Audience') button. However, I am not sure if this is possible from UI (permissions?). Kindly suggest the right approach.

Regards,

Rohit

@RohitGangishetty1 This is not currently possible, the ability to create and save an audience is under the 'manage-segments' in the Profile Management permissions so you either get create and save or not. There is no granular way to distinguish the creation and the saving because saving is what will actually set the audience for the segment evaluation.

Advice here is to use a Dev sandbox which you'll be able to reset later on once your users have played around with the audience functionality. You can otherwise request all users use a specific naming convention (some kind of a prefix) so you can then delete the segments but that's easier said than done

Totally understand. Thank You Tof. Need to put some governance in place as there is no platform level restriction that can be implemented.

Hi @Tof_Jossic

Thank you for clarifying the ability to create and save an audience. Can we restrict a user from publishing the audience? I have read the documentation but could not find the answer. I kindly request your help with this.

@Alkash4 if by 'publishing an audience' you mean activating the audience to a destination, then yes you can restrict that through the permissions if that user does not have 'Activate Destinations' in his/her role.

See https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-platform/access-control/home#permissions for more details

For more clarity on my question, I am restricting the user from accessing this button to publish an audience in draft. I am attaching a screenshot for reference.

Please suggest.

@Alkash4 Thanks for the clarification, in fact, it seems to me this use case is the exact same one we had at the beginning of the thread with @RohitGangishetty1. What I replied at the time was:

This is not currently possible, the ability to create and save (publish) an audience is under 'manage-segments' in the Profile Management permissions so you either get create and save or not. There is no granular way to distinguish the creation and the saving because saving is what will set the audience for the segment evaluation.

@Alkash4 I searched our database and I see we do have an Enhancement Request logged with our Product teams to be able to 'Save without publishing' - I'll mention this thread in the report so it gets more visibility but at this time, I cannot guarantee a timeframe.
