Alloy request fails to send when navigating away from page

I am attempting to send an event to the edge when the user adds a product to the cart. The problem is that when the user does this, the application navigates to the cart view page.

I'm able to get a beacon to Adobe Analytics just find (the old fashioned way with the AA extension). The alloy send however is failing as the page unloads.
