XD Plugins Are Moving to the Marketplace in Creative Cloud Desktop by Adobe Tech Blog

Abstract

Last fall, we announced the release of the new Plugin Marketplace in Creative Cloud Desktop, providing Creative Cloud users with instant access to a full marketplace of Plugins and Integrations, right from the desktop, in the same place they manage their Creative Cloud Applications.

Since then, many of you have been asking when XD plugins would be moving to this new surface, and while it took us a little longer than we’d hoped, we’re excited to announce that the migration is underway! Over the next few weeks, users of XD 40 (and above) will start seeing XD plugins appear in the Marketplace tab in Creative Cloud Desktop alongside a robust catalog of plugins for all Creative Cloud applications.

For both XD plugin developers and XD users, the move should be a seamless transition. Today, clicking “Discover Plugins” in XD opens in a new XD window— post migration, the Creative Cloud Desktop app window will be opened instead, with the Marketplace tab automatically selected.
With this change, Adobe users and developers alike will benefit from the following:
Increased discovery of plugins with direct access in Creative Cloud Desktop, and cross-pollination opportunities from other applications.

A centralized management surface for all of your Creative Cloud app plugins.

A long requested feature, XD plugins are now tied to your Adobe account, which makes installing them on new devices a breeze! Note: while this release doesn’t enable monetization of XD plugins, it does bring us one step closer.

Starting in early July, XD plugins will be discoverable on the Adobe Exchange on the web.
Also coming in early July — just like for other applications, XD plugins will be discoverable and installable for Creative Cloud Enterprise Admins from the App Packager in the Adobe Admin Console.
