I've now watched half a dozen AEM videos and read a ton of stuff about it. I've heard enough "brand experience" gobbledygook to have won Buzzword Bingo several times over. I have learned that many earnest and attractive people at Adobe are very enthusiastic about it, in a brandy-experiency way. I have become aware that all of them have nice haircuts and some of them have modestly-colorful scarves.
But I still have no idea who AEM is for.
- Is AEM for enterprises only
- What's the job title of the person who uses it -- marketing manager, content manager, web developer, IT specialist, or...?
- Does it require multiple people with multiple skills?
- Can a small agency and clients with minimal resources use it to collaborate?
- Is it a CMS in the old sense, where writers or editors who are not technical can use it to post content to various platforms, or is it really designed only for the technically skilled?
I can probably get the answers by signing up for a webinar, but if it's not the tool for me or my clients, there's little point. So I'd be grateful for a short, straightforward response. (Please, God, don't tell me it's for "brands". A brand is not a company. A brand is an abstract idea. It is something a company has, not something that it is. A brand is not a person, either. There is no one here with the job title of "brand." A "brand" does not create anything, post to social media, develop strategy, make emergency changes to a website at two in the morning, or...anything else. )
