What is the best way to reindex AEM repository?

Hi,

We are going to reindex all repository via removing crx-quickstart/repository/index folder.

After that run compaction.

Is there any risk of such a procedure on production environment?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi,

Depending on the repository size, the time to index might vary from a few hours to days.

Also, there are chances you might run into some issues while re-indexing.

Hope you have done a test in the lower environments[probably with production data ], before starting directly into production[directly doing in production is not advisable].

Also, better to have a backup plan in place, just in case things go wrong.

As a related note - for those reading this thread and wanting to know about Indexing in AEM - see: Oak Lucene Indexes.

Hi Alex,

can you clone prod and runt he procedure their? What's the logic for reindexing and then compaction? I presume you would let reindexing complete and then run offline revision cleanup?

Also what's the root cause of why you want to reindex, was it recommended by daycare? As, unless you know the root cause, how can you be sure reindexing will help.

Deleting "crx-quickstart/repository/index" will not reindex in AEM6. It is safe to delete.

Thanks,
