Using Hobs to test edit layer

I'd like to write some automated tests to test our AEM6 authoring environment (i.e. filling in edit dialogs and ensuring dialog configurations and editor hooks work). Is this something that Hobs/Hobbes is designed to do? Or will I need to use a 3rd party library such as Selenium?
