We want to be able to show different content to users based on
a. Authentication Level (signed in vs not signed in)
b. Group Memberships
What's the best way to achieve this in CQ5? Is this something OOB or we've to write custom code to achieve it

This is an area well covered in AEM docs:
http://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/aem/6-0/author/personalization.html (for those reading this and working with AEM 6)
http://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/cq/current/wcm/content-targeting.html (5.6)

Hey,
Thanks for the information. We don't have the license for the campaign part of it. In any case, do you guys, is there a way to handle this programmatically extensively - for example, a different dashboard based on the country of user - if we had to do that, is this something you recommend or we should rather have the campaign and test&target for Adobe license?
You could implement a custom service - then you would figure out the code to dynamically display content based on who is viewing it. It would be much easier to license Campaign (which is -personalization management). That is the benefit to lic other parts of the Digital Marketing platform and use it within AEM.
