Hi @user07142, in general you do not need to set 301 redirect for unpublished pages - that you just wanted to remove from publish instance. However in case when you would like to move already published page to other location, and this change will affect the url - then setting 301 or 302 depending if this change is permanent or temporary will be good idea.

Hi @user07142

If you want to move the page to a different location:

  1. Unpublish the page
  2. Move the page to new location
  3. Apply a 301 redirect from old location to new location (This is just to ensure who has previously bookmarked the URL will not get a 404 and will see the content at the new location)

If you want to remove the page completely from the website:

  1. Unpublish the page
  2. Delete the page from author
  3. Apply a 301 redirect to any other location (if required) else user will get a 404 response.

Please note, 301 is a permanent redirect and it will be cached at the browser end, whereas 302 is a temporary redirect and it will not be cached at the browser end.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!
