The Future of Developer Experience at Adobe by Jonathan Roeder

Abstract

Front-line workers are, undoubtedly, the superheroes of the day, rising to new challenges and pushing themselves harder than ever before to help others and save lives in the face of the global pandemic. Behind the scenes, developers have been doing their own work to keep the world running safely. When the world pivoted to digital-first, developers were there to virtually connect families, friends, and co-workers; to provide the underlying plumbing for digital grocery shopping and restaurant takeout, which suddenly went from conveniences to critical services; and for comedy relief and distraction.

Entire businesses had to pivot in weeks if not days, and developers were there to rally for the cause, keeping workers employed, businesses afloat, and people connected in the process. While our work does not compare to the sacrifices made by front-line workers, I am very proud to be part of a community that has, in its own way, stepped up to the plate in these challenging times.

At Adobe, we are looking to the future of customer and workflow experiences, with a solid goal of empowering developers to do more exciting, dynamic work that fundamentally shifts the business models of today. That’s why, at our free (and all-virtual) Adobe Summit 2021, we are running our first-ever Developer Ecosystem track and Hackathon at Summit.
