Template with specific components for each page

Is there way to use one template to create two pages. Each page should enable certain components only to that page in the sidekick. I know about templates and design mode global configuration specific to the template. I would like to validate it with you guys. Should we create two different templates even the pages are very similar.

Anything that will be set in the design mode, will be restricted to a template ! so I think you will have to create 2 templates in this case or you can enable the super set of the components so that authors can use the relevant components in the respective pages.
