Redirect In Page Properties Not working in author instance for internal pages in AEM 6

I am passing an internal page link in the page properties of a page which is eventually setting the property 'redirectTarget' in the jcr:content of the page.

but the page doesn't redirect when opened.

same is observed in classic ui and touch ui.

Is there any additional setting that I need to do or modify any of the existing logic?
