We are folding two websites into one and will use a subfolder strategy to identify content by region. Currently we use this convention for page titles: Company | Folder | Page Name. With this merger, we are essentially creating a need to locate some pages in a regional folder such that, if we follow our convention, it will be "Longer Company with Region | Folder | Page Name". That makes the title very long and not very useful in browser. We’re also wondering about implications relative to SEO and search results.
We are considering inverting our page title SEO so that in the future we start with Page Name (Page Name | Folder | Company Name). Think this will be better for optimization also as page name more likely to include key words.
Has anyone made this structural change as a result of a combination of two sites into one domain? Pros/cons/lessons learned? Resources that were helpful to you?
