Making changes in content fragment template at run-time

It is provided in the adobe documentation that the content fragment templates created in /apps can not be changed at run time, and only the ones created under /conf can be changed:

The out-of-the-box templates are held under:

  • /libs/settings/dam/cfm/templates

You can create your site-specific templates for content fragments under:

  • /apps/settings/dam/cfm/templates
The location for overlaying out-of-the-box templates or providing customer-specific, application-wide templates that are not intended to be extended/changed at runtime.
  • /conf/global/settings/dam/cfm/templates
The location for instance-wide customer-specific templates that need to be changed at runtime.

Can anyone please let me know the meaning of changing the templates at run-time. As I have tried creating the templates under /apps, and I am able to change the template and the changes are reflecting in the page in which this content fragment is used.

How are you changing them? Most nodes in the AEM JCR can be changed using various APIs - like the NODE API.
