Link checker and 128 links limit

Avatar

Hi

the link checker has a limit of 128 links for a given target host. We have two large systems with a lot of related content and the limit is ridiculously low. Is there a way to remove this limitation? The majority of our links to the second system are then rendered as text ....

The implementation to make it configurable is complete & unfortunately did not make into 5.6.1. Will ship in next release. As scott recommended please file daycare with business impact.

Here is a good community article that talks about this,

http://www.wemblog.com/2011/10/how-to-make-sure-that-links-are-always.html

However - it looks like the 128 limit is not configurable.

I was aware of the article but the solution is not really a useful one:

  • it requires a lot of work (adjusting the links)
  • renders the link checker completely useless
The article is from 2011, in two years Adobe was not able to solve the issue?

From the Whats New AEM documentation -- this has not been updated.

http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/release_notes/overview.html

If you consider this a bug, I recommend opening an AEM ticket:

If you do not want to use the Link checker -- another option that you have is to use the apache sling rewriter functionality. You can develop it to check each link:

http://sling.apache.org/site/output-rewriting-pipelines-orgapacheslingrewriter.html

Hope this helps.

I always love this kind of ironic answer: "If I believe it'a bug" as it was a matter of opinion. How could one even suggest that it is normal to just consider 128 links and then consider the rest as invalid just like that.

But OK, I open a ticket and receive no useful answer as always ...

You marked it as solved but and you say that it will be configurable. How: will there be another limit? Can I just set it to "unlimited". Why was the limit implemented?

Will this be also back ported to 5.5? The version is still supported.

Configure the limit to -1 for unlimted.  Some customer have internal policy for links not to exceed & hence made as configurable option.

P.S:-    I am not moderator & do not have permission to set as solved myself.
