Is it possible to add a thumbnail image for a pdf link hosting in DAM? For web page, there's a field for thumbnail image, so when we share the page link in messenger or social media, the image will show.

Can we do the same for a pdf link? How?

Hi,

Are you asking about thumbnail in dam folder where pdf is added?

If so currently pdf/image is using the below rendition got created while uploading the file to dam as thumbnail

jcr:content/renditions/cq5dam.thumbnail.48.48.png

If you need custom thumbnail for pdf, I think you can write custom step and add it to DAM Update Asset workflow which will replace the above thumbnail with your custom thumbnail for pdf files.

My target is to share a pdf link in WhatApp/FB messenger, and there could be a image automatically appear with the link, just like the page thumbnail does.

You can try downloading or redirecting pdf from page to PDF on load

Add open grapg tag for pdfs and share that page link instaed of direct DAM pdf.
