I am trying to activate around 18000 pages in aem programmatically, i see that it consumes 7gb disk space to complete activation, and i am assuming it would take even more for assets. Analysis was that activation of 12700 pages take around 4gb disk space before running tar optimization
I have tried activating using activate tree, and it gives me the same results. Is it reasonable?
Is there any performance tuning that could help here?
Please let me know

Thanks Scott, the problem here is:
Creating pages, Asset upload , page activation and asset activation is part of a scheduled process.
Since i am using 5.6.1, I have already focused on in the configurations in the document but in vain. Curious as to why the Activate Tree takes up 7gb -7.5 gb for 21MB of content.
