Deleted comments not replicated to Publish instances

Avatar

Former Community Member

Newly created comments are replicating properly across the Publish and Author instances. However, when deleting comments, the comments are removed from the Author instance but *not* the Publish instances. No exception is being thrown in the logs. Where would be the best place to look at troubleshooting this issue?

Try using the Communities (moderation) console on Author to delete comments instead of deleting them in-context.

Hi,

See this helpful one : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18179311/delete-comments-from-cq5-blog-publish-instance

Try following:

Add a comment, and ensure that its replicated.

Then delete it in author, so you must get something in logs. Please share wht you get.

Right.  The stackoverflow article virtually says the same thing - use the Community moderation console on author to delete comments.  Or you can setup a workflow.  This is for AEM (CQ) 5.6.1.

I believe what failed was trying to delete the comment in-context on author, same as the user who posted the comment could do on publish if the comment properties were set to allow the user to delete their own comment.

User generated content (UGC), which is typically entered on publish, is handled differently from page content, which is typically entered on author.

Thank you for your help. Using the Social Communities admin interface I was able to successfully delete comments from both the author and publish instances. I am a bit curious, however, as to why AEM even allows comments to be deleted from the blog post page when these changes are not propagated to the publish instances?

Either way, iv'e solved my problem. Thanks again.

You're welcome!

I don't know the history, I only know that management of UGC, and Communities itself (formerly known as Social Communities) is undergoing quite a transformation.
