custom button or action in toolbar which sends checked out page/asset/xf paths to a custom workflow

Hello I want to add custom button or action in toolbar which sends checked out files paths to a custom workflow. but in aemaacs overlay does not work in crx. somehow I managed to download /libs/... and changed folder to /apps/.. and filters and re-installed.

I want to add new action/button which sends checked out files paths to custom workflow.

 I think we can send those paths to servlet and trigger workflow from servlet. In that case how to send those checked out paths to servlet. how to get those checked out paths of the files. we can iterate all the pages in servlet to know checkedout file paths but is there any other way to get those paths.

2. how ootb quickpublish gets these paths to replicate?
