CQ 5.5.SP3 Patch Installation Triggered during a scheduled Restarting of CQ Instance

Hi,

We have  CQ 5.5 and already installed SP3 a couple of months ago.  Last weekend, another SP3 update was triggered and the error.log did not give information on why it was triggered.   Can you please give your thoughts on why it was triggered and a better understanding on how we can prevent that from happening again.

As a result of the automatic upgrade, it took longer than usual for the instance to be up and thus provided false indication that the instance was down.  An engineer responded and stopped the instance while doing the upgrade thus I think we lost some replication configurations and also the CQ client library cannot be found thus displaying blank screens if you select an option in the Site admin tools - (Websites, Digital Assets, Inbox, etc).

what was the approach you used to deploy SP3? Have you placed it in the crx-quickstart/install folder? Can you share the relevant log entries, when it was getting reinstalled again (the first few lines are sufficient).

HI Jorg,

We installed SP3 a couple of months ago via the Package Install. Last weekend, during a scheduled restart of CQ instance using a script, SP3 was re installed.  I see the  "com.day.cq.cq-compat-cqupgrade Bundle" being displayed as part of the error.log.  I did not see any error  message or related information that will show me how it was triggered. 

Will an abnormal CQ instance restart trigger an update?

Hi Beth,

I am guessing something missed up at /etc/packages/day/cq550/update/cq-service-pack-5.5.3.xxxxxxxx.zip/jcr:content/vlt:definition

    Can you file a daycare by attaching all the log files of last week from 2 or 3 days before the scheduled restart.

this is indeed strange, as it seems like that the package has been installed again. Can you check your log files for any statement about a startup mode?
