Can we do Asset Insights Configuration with Adobe Analytics, without using Adobe Launch?

Hi,

 

We have a requirement to do insights configuration for assets. I referred documents with uses adobe launch for insights configuration https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-learn/assets/advanced/asset-insights-launch-tutorial.html?lang=en.

We don't have launch in our project, can we do the configuration without launch? When we already have AA and can integrate the insights using that, why do we need launch? why do we need to add adobe analytics extension to launch?

In general, you do not have to use Adobe Launch, and you can integrate with Adobe Analytics directly, like it has been described here:

Regarding Adobe Launch usage, why you can consider to use it for Insights or other functionalities:

  • Adobe Launch is a tag manager and is free for all the clients that already have Adobe Analytics
  • It provides an abstraction, platform agnostic layer that brings standardize development approach in terms of Adobe Analytics integration and other
  • Provides Adobe Analytics and other scripts
  • Core Components integration - here you can find details - https://github.com/adobe/aem-core-wcm-components/blob/main/DATA_LAYER_INTEGRATION.md

Summarizing, Adobe Launch is not required, however in long term it is worth to take into account using it. Especially if your are planing to utilize Adobe Analytics not only for Insights but also other tracking purposes.
