any things I need to aware of when using an Apple M1 (and above) for AEM/Java/frontend development?

as above.

 

I think there's not much need to worry about frontend. it's the backend that I'm more concerned with.

 

I searched the net and came across 1 discussion where the only thing that needs to be changed is upgrading (using a newer version that's been compiled or arm) a mvn "plugin".

I am using AEM (6.5.10 and above / AEM Cloud SDK) on mac with m1 chip without any issue. So from a backend point of view, it should be seamless with the latest AEM JAR. See this thread for same topic [1] 

 

You may need a special version of the dispatcher to support m1 chip, see this discussion for details [2]
