AEM Upgrade to 6.5.18 | Replication Issue - PathNotFoundException

Hello,

 

We are in the process of upgrading (in-place) the AEM instances to the latest version SP 6.5.18. We have followed the release notes and applied fixes for known issues, but are still facing issues with replication from within the pages. 

 

To be more specific, we are having trouble with replication when the page is published from within the pages themselves. However, replication is successful when the page is published from the site admin (sites.html).

 

We have observed the following exception in the replication logs:

Observation:

After the upgrade SP, the path for activation contains /editor.html/ when replicating within the page, which may be causing the issue.

This is a known issue in AEM v6.5.18, and Adobe has provided a work around to resolve the issue.

    The issue and workaround mentioned in the release notes were successfully applied when we faced those problems.

     

    However, we have noticed another issue. When publishing from the page, the replication path contains "../editor.html/.." in the path which seems the cause to be rejected as an invalid page path. On the other hand, when publishing from the site admin (quick publish), there is no such issue and it works fine.

     

    Is there any workaround or solution available that can help us resolve this problem while publishing within the page?

      Hi @nikhilgu1,

      I removed the path property from the node path /libs/wcm/core/content/editor/jcr:content/content/items/content/header/items/headerbar/items/pageinfopopover/items/list/items/publish/granite:data. After making this change, the Publish Page functionality started working fine for me.

      If the issue still persists after removing the path property, I would recommend submitting a support ticket to Adobe for further assistance.

            Hi @nikhilgu1, thanks for letting me know.

            In the meantime I have done some investigating into the original issue (before applying the fix of removing the path property, why there is a redirect to an unknown URL) and have also come up with a solution.

             

            The problem is happening in "/libs/cq/gui/components/authoring/editors/clientlibs/core/js/actions/publish.js" in function "

            navigateToPublishWizard(activator, path, editMode, schedule)" on line 29:
             
            location.href = encodeURIComponent(activator.data("url")) + "?" + params + (editMode ? "\x26editmode" : "") + (schedule ? "\x26later" : "")
             
            This piece of code is responsible for navigating the user to the publish wizard page where an overview of all changed assets is shown and from where these can be replicated.
             
            The issue is that since 6.5.18, the first part of the url is now encoded (including the forward slash /), so the location.href is now assigned a relative path instead of an absolute path. Which results in a redirect to a wrong path.
             
            For example; when you publish "http://localhost:4502/editor.html/content/mysite/en/mypage.html" you're supposed to be redirected to "http://localhost:4502/libs/wcm/core/content/sites/publishpagewizard.html?item=/content/mysite/en/mypage&editmode". But because of the "encodeURIComponent(activator.data("url"))" part, the location.href is actually set to 
            "%2Flibs%2Fwcm%2Fcore%2Fcontent%2Fsites%2Fpublishpagewizard.html?item=/content/mysite/en/mypage&editmode" (without leading / to indicate an absolute path, because it's encoded to %2F) and so you'll be redirected to "http://localhost:4502/editor.html/content/mysite/en/mypage/%2Flibs%2Fwcm%2Fcore%2Fcontent%2Fsites%2Fpublishpagewizard.html?item=/content/mysite/en/mypage&editmode" instead.
             
            Before 6.5.18, line 29 of publish.js used to be:
            location.href = activator.data("url") + "?" + params + (editMode ? "\x26editmode" : "") + (schedule ? "\x26later" : "")
             
            That actually still works. But if you want to encode the activator.data("url") for safety (since it's a fetched property) first, then just add a forward slash at the beginning:
            location.href = "/" + encodeURIComponent(activator.data("url"))
            + "?" + params + (editMode ? "\x26editmode" : "") + (schedule ? "\x26later" : "")
             
            This should at least fix the issue until an official fix is released (in the next SP?). Hope that helps you.
