AEM SItes on-premises not longer supported

Hi All,

We are currently running the AEM on-premises on local VMs.
Recently we have heard from colleagues at different higher-education institutions, who have had their Adobe support renewals denied for on-premises installs.

Adobe has stated that its stance is that on-premises installs are no longer being supported.
I cannot find any record on Adobe's website of on-premises installs/support being unsupported.

Can anyone from Adobe comment?

I understand the push for Cloud Hosted and or Cloud Hosted with Managed services, but forcing paying customers without a reasonable lead time to migrate screams GREED.

I don't think you heard correctly, because as you can see, on the Experience Manager On-premise and Managed Services releases roadmap, it shows that the next release date for AEM 6.5.5 onPrem is.

Experience Manager 6.5 Service Pack 22 6.5.22.0 Service Pack November 21, 2024 Target

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-manager-release-information/aem-release-update...

But, if you are trying to find End of Support for AEM Versions like 6.0, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4... you can find it on this website. https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/support/programs/eol-matrix.html

And from this official Adobe website, it does look like AEM 6.4 is End of extended support on 4/30/2023.

But think of the bright side, AEM 6.5 is non-applicable, which means its not set to end support yet...

Hi @BrianKasingli.

We are running the latest Service Pack, 6.5.21.0
Thanks for the info and a link to your blog, it's a great resource.

A few of our colleagues were just trying to renew their yearly support of AEM.
A P.O. was generated and accepted by Adobe.
Adobe then came back and denied the support, stating that they could no longer offer support for AEM running on-premise.

Luckily we renewed our support earlier this year.
We looking towards next year, and we don't want to be in a position where we don't have any support for our University-wide CMS.

I am not aware that the general AEM 6.5.x support for on-prem setups is going to be discontinued.
