AEM Guides (XML Documentation for AEM) installation

Level 5

Hi Community,

Could you please help on installing AEM Guides on on-premise or AEM cloud service? Also, do we need to communicate with Adobe for Guides installation on Sandbox or we can do it by our self? Please advise.

Thanks in advance

Hi @Chandra_Hire ,

For local setup below are the steps that need to be followed.
1)  Download lastest AEMaacs sdk from software distribution center.
2)  Extract the zip and rename the jar (e.g. "aem-author-p4502.jar")

3) Run AEM instance using jar ("java -jar aem-author-p4502.jar")

Thank you @malay_dube

I have installed latest AEMaaCS sdk (aem-sdk-2022.9.8722.20220912T101352Z-220800) but Guides feature is still not there.

@Chandra_Hire Try to see if you re-create the sandbox do you see the checkbox to add a guide in the program in the CS

Employee Advisor

@Chandra_Hire do you have the guides added on pkg on local sdk? At program level the checkbox should be selected and you should run the deploy to dev pipeline.

Hi @Chandra_Hire,

Analyzed thing as below, as per my understanding

That's XML Add-on available in Software Distribution, you have to install and setup.

  • Prior & up to AEM 6.4.0 that was XML Editor and the Add-on is as belowSantoshSai_0-1669588163428.png

  • From AEM 6.5.0 onwards, Add-on is placed under Tools that is - XML DocumentationSantoshSai_1-1669588163500.png

Please refer below screenshot from Software Distribution.
