Hi, I'm looking to transition again to an AEM Content Author. I used to make updates to websites from large organizations and I've looked at AEM course through Adobe and with my financial situation, I cannot afford 2K on a course.
Are there any alternatives that I can get a certificate or at least a decent one where I can add to my resume that I've completed some kind of training?
Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, EDX do not offer this unfortunately. I looked at Udemy but I'm not sure it's as reputable. Any advice will help me a lot! Thank you.

Hi @webtech11,
to be honest I am not aware of any free courses to recommend. Maybe something is available these days, but I had to learn AEM the good old (hard) way: by reading documentation and doing real, hands-on work.
I don't think adding a completed Udemy course to your CV will help you find a job. I would recommend that you make use of documentation and Adobe samples to try to do some hands-on work. For example, create a demo website, and publish your code on GitHub. This is also something you can put in your CV.
Good luck,
Daniel

Hi @webtech11,
sorry, my mistake, I thought you wanted to learn how to develop/customize for AEM, not author content. Forget GitHub in that case, it is used to version code for AEM customizations and extensions.
Good luck,
Daniel

AEM User Guide specific to Authors is available here: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-manager-65/content/sites/authoring/essentials/...
I am somewhat uncertain whether courses from online platforms other than Adobe would provide significant value. I haven’t found the courses on Coursera or Udemy to be particularly helpful.

Hi @webtech11 ,
Certifications are useful, but hands-on experience often makes a bigger impact. Start by gaining experience within your current organization, if possible, by working on AEM projects.
Most organizations and interview panels focus more on how you respond to technical questions, rather than just certifications.
Once you have practical experience, you can confidently add it to your resume, which will be far more valuable.
Thanks,

Hi Ritesh, thanks for your help! I don't work in AEM in my current work place. Is it free to download Adobe Experience Manager?
What questions do you think could come up during an interview if I'm applying for an AEM author role?

It's great that you're looking to transition into an AEM Content Author role! You can always look out for information on the net. AEM course through Adobe is the best option. There is no better way to be certified in Abobe when its from Adobe.
You can check out AEM YouTube channels for free.
LinkedIn Learning offers several AEM-related courses. They might provide a 1-month free trial which you can utilize.
Coursera & edX offer free courses on related subjects (web development, content management systems), and while they may not provide specific AEM certificates, they can show your technical knowledge and commitment to professional growth.
https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-manager-learn/foundation/overview
https://github.com/adobe/aem-core-wcm-components

By combining free resources, self-study, and small projects you could gain knowledge and insights you will need for your transition.

Thanks for these resources. I have saved them!
What does Github do? this is actually new to me. It's possible to use AEM and publish code in Github? I've never done this before.

@webtech11 These are some OOTB components that can used during your practice and also use these for references for standards used.
