AEM 6.2 and Adobe Target Connection Issue

Avatar

Level 2

I am having trouble connecting Adobe AEM 6.2(author) to Adobe Target server. Getting “401 Unauthorized” response when try connecting through cloud configuration from AEM.

I do have the “Approver” privilege in Adobe Target  but not sure what else has to be done to allow connection from AEM.

Below is the response that I received from Adobe, I was able to connect successfully with below login information

************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Please try to connect using the following information:
Client Code : <Reach out to Adobe>
Email Id : <Reach out to Adobe>
Password : <Reach out to Adobe>

Let me try to explain why you need use above account: Target actually have 2 versions: one is Test & Target (we called Target Classic), the other is Target Standard. You are able to access Target with your Adobe ID, that is to the Target Standard; In your AEM integration experiment, that is to Target Classic which don’t support Adobe ID authentication.  In order to make your AEM integration success, Sandbox team provides this general email address and password.

Here are the docs for integrating AEM with Adobe Target? https://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/aem/6-2/administer/integration/marketing-cloud/target.html which should help.

Did you run through the wizard or did you configure it manually? You'll need to know the client code, email, and password (and as you mention you need approver privileges in Adobe Target). If you're manually configuring, this should help: https://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/aem/6-2/administer/integration/marketing-cloud/target/target-configur...

Alva, Thanks for responding. I tried all options i.e using opt-in and manual configuration but no luck. I used correct client code that I grabbed from Adobe Target server and made sure I have approver access but still getting 401 Unauthorized error.

I think from your answer above, I know the answer but just double-checking: You can go to Adobe Target directly at https://admin.testandtarget.omniture.com/ and log in with your credentials, fine? And is this where you got your client code - at Configuration > View Setttings & Download?

Can you also try this - re-enter your password even if you know it was correct. You need to re-enter the password even if you entered it correctly before when you reconnect. I was able to reproduce the error but fixed it by manually entering the password again and clicking Reconnect.

Here is my scenario-

  •     I login to Adobe Target through https://<partnername>americaspartner.marketing.adobe.com/target
  •     Then through Setup> Implementation> Edit mbox.js Settings I grabbed client code

When I tried login to https://admin.testandtarget.omniture.com/

  •     I got Adobe Marketing Cloud login screen
  •     After successful login to above screen, I am getting T&T login screen to associate my Adobe Cloud ID to T&T login.
  •     When I tried to use same Adobe Cloud Id in the second screen the login fails
  •

My understanding is that  we can access Adobe Target as part of Marketing cloud solution i.e URL https://<partnername>americaspartner.marketing.adobe.com/target. Is Test & Target account is different than Adobe Target?

Apologies, selvam2016 - I'm just seeing your response now. To be honest, I'm not sure about the scenario when you are logging into a partner website. Yes, T&T and Target are the same thing and I use the same login into Target as I do when connecting in AEM.

Anytime you reconnect in the T&T cloud configuration in AEM, you do need to manually enter the password again (into AEM) (even though you see the dots that indicate that there is a password stored).

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest you contact the Customer Care team directly.

Hi Selvan,

I'm also getting "401 Unauthorized" error while trying to connect AEM & Adobe Target. Have you solved this problem?

Who is the 'sandbox team' mentioned in the response from Adobe client care.

Thank You in advance.

Hi Hari,

I'm having the same issue, I'm able to connect to Adobe Target but when I use the same credentials in order to configure AEM Target cloud services I'm getting a  "401 Unauthorized" error.

How do you solve this issue ??

Thanks in advance

Hi

The solution to this problem is that:

1. You need to have Adobe Target Classic access.

-> Validate it by logging to https://admin.testandtarget.omniture.com/

2. If you do not have the access, then reach out to support (daycare) and get credentials for it. Once you will have the credentials you would be able to connect properly.

PS:- Sometimes even after getting the access from the support, you may not be able to get access and 401 error still persist. The reason for that would be because sometimes you would get access for https://admin10.testandtarget.omniture.com/ rater than https://admin.testandtarget.omniture.com/ [sometimes user remain in blocked state] So just make sure, you will be able to get access for "https://admin.testandtarget.omniture.com/"

The recommended way for connecting AEM with Adobe Target is VIA DTM.
