Accessibility issues with image alternative, Email Designer remove empty alt (alt="")

Avatar

Level 1

The Email Designer has accessibility issues with images. If users don't enter alternative text for the images, it doesn't add an empty alt attribute. If we manually add an empty alt attribute (alt="") via HTML code, the editor removes it. This creates serious accessibility problems: without an alt attribute, screen readers vocalize the image URL. Is there a way to work around this bug? How can we report the bug to the Adobe team for it to be fixed?

Hi Francois,

Please contact Campaign Support to report this issue. The Support team will review it. If it is determined to be a bug (it sounds like it is), it will be escalated to R&D for a fix.

Thank you, I'll try to find someone in my organization who has the rights to create tickets, as it seems I don't have access.

Hi @Francois-XavierLa ,

To address the accessibility issue with the Email Designer, you can consider the following workaround and see if this works for you:

Workaround:

  • Post-Editing in External HTML Editor: After designing your email in Adobe Campaign Classic, export the HTML code. Open the exported HTML in an external HTML editor, such as Notepad++ or Visual Studio Code. Manually add the empty alt="" attributes to your images where required. Save the changes and re-import the updated HTML back into Adobe Campaign Classic.
  • Using Conditional Comments for Outlook: If the issue is specific to Outlook, you might try using conditional comments in your HTML to target the images in Outlook only, ensuring the alt attributes remain intact.

Reporting the Bug:
Document the steps to reproduce the issue. Include details about your environment, such as the Adobe Campaign Classic version, browser used, and any specific scenarios where the issue occurs. If possible, provide screenshots or a video demonstrating the problem. You can report the bug to Adobe through the Adobe Support Portal  under the 'Support' section.
