Because of issues like this I have seem people do one of 2 things commonly in excel with report builder.
1) Flow the report directly into an excel table
This allows you to more easily sort or filter the report after it has ran but in this case would still be difficult when it is aggregated by day.
2) Pull the data into one tab, then set up a pivot table either next to it or in a new tab. This allows for more advanced manipulation without needing to format the original data pull.
