Marketing Channel Classification: I want to group my marketing channels

Hello! In my company we have finished the configuration of the processing rules of the marketing channels. We would like to be able to group these channels through “Marketing Channel Classifications”.

This is what I have started to do through this section:

I have included the exact name of each marketing channel created, but when I see the results I can't see this grouping. Can you help me?

I have classified SEO in 5 mk channels but here appears 23.

This are my mk channels:

The step that you have done is just the first step to creating a classification. You've created the hierarchy, but now you need to assign the values. You can either use the rule builder or the importer. In your case, I think the classification importer would work better. You only need that first level (and you can even just call it something more generic like Marketing Channel Group). You then want to go into the classification importer and download the template. Put in the values and then upload the file. In the file, the 'key' column will be your actual marketing channel, and then in the classification column you would put SEO or Marca, or whatever you want to do the grouping.

thank you very much for your answer, very helpful.

I have one more doubt: Is it necessary then that I first have the final structure defined in “Marketing Channel Classifications”?
I have seen that depending on what is defined there, the classification importer template changes.

This would be my structure (probably provisional):

And the template I download appears to me like this:

Should I structure it to something like this? :

Thank you

The second screenshot is much closer to what you actually want. In your hierarchy building, you don't need to put all the individual marketing channels in there. Just make one classification, call it something like "Marketing Channel Groups" (or whatever terminology you use). And then when you download the template it will have two columns: Key and Marketing Channel Group. Put your actual marketing channel under Key and the grouping under the classification column.

Yes, I agree, you don't need a classification for each "group"... you need a Marketing Channel "Group" classification, then you would apply the name of the group into that one classification.

If you need different "group levels", you could create a classification for each level...

Think of Classifications as "buckets of data"

If I have these five values:

  • value 1
  • value 2
  • value 3
  • value 4
  • value 5

and I know that 1 and 3 are "SEO", and 2 is "RRSS" and 4 and 5 are "Marca"

I don't need three buckets... I just map 1 and 3 to the "group classification" with value of "SEO", and map 2 to the "RRSS" group, and 4 and 5 to the "Marca"

In my groups I then have three values (or classifications) of SEO, RRSS and Marca

Hi Jennifer,

In relation to this topic on grouping marketing channels. Over time I have discovered that there is one of my marketing channels that is not being grouped, and it does appear in the file published through the Classification importer. This is the list in the document, the last channel is the one it does not recognise, and is appearing in "None". Do you know why this might be?
