I'm hoping someone has a solution they can share! Right now, we are able to have some YoY summary change widgets along with YoY trended line charts based on a key metric summary table. Unfortunately, if someone were to select a different date range in the date selector, the comparison period changes. No longer is YoY the selected option, but it redefaults to "previous period" instead. This causes a lot of confusion if someone was previously looking at YoY but now looking at previous period comparisons after selecting different dates and unable to get back to that YoY comparison.
I've included a video of what happens when i change date range from last 90 days defaulted to last 30 days instead. You can see the comparison period in the trended graph line changes to previous period.
Any thoughts on a solution to default to YoY comparison regardless of what dates are selected? Any help would be appreciated!

I have a "not perfect" potential solution...
Similar to what @MandyGeorge said, using the "make date ranges relative to panel" feature is needed, but leap years are going to be a headache. and changing the length of the range cannot be adjusted either...
The "relative date" feature means that calculations are going to be based on the first day of the range... So you can create a rolling date range that looks something like:
So in your "last full 90 days" pre-selection, this should be the equivalent "last year" (again, might be slightly off in leap years), and IF you choose a new 90 day period (not "last 90 full days", but say you decide to look at Dec 1 - Feb 28, I do get the previous year (but being a leap year, there is a single day shift):
However, having the date range auto adjust to the selected range (i.e. choosing "Last 30 Full Days" and having the comparison be for the equivalent 30 days last year) isn't currently an option.
I truly wish it was, that would be amazing. I can't recall if there is an idea for this, but I suggest logging something in the Ideas area to support better comparison reporting
The only other option I can think of would be to take the report outside of workspace, into something like Report Builder, where you can allow people to enter date ranges, and then use hidden cells and Date Formulas to calculate out the equivalent range...
This however would mean that every user needing access to this report would need to be granted access to, and install Adobe Report Builder... not exactly an ideal solution....
If you know that people are going to be interested in key ranges, "Last 90 full days" and "Last 30 full days", etc.. sometimes you just have to create duplicate panels for each range (rather than allowing them to select the range of interest)....
I wish I had better solutions for you... this is a struggle for a lot of people...

I'm not 100% certain if this would work for what you need, but in the date settings there is an option to "make date ranges relative to panel". You could try selecting that and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks! But this option looks to change the comparison period to "previous period" only, not a YoY view.

Appreciate the suggestions! Good idea on trying to request some most popular ranges and making multiple panels as a stop gap.
Yeah, maybe one day those comparisons will work a little better. Good luck.
