Data Validation | Referrer Question - Why So Many Typed/Bookmarked?

Avatar

Level 2

Hello,

For some obscure entry pages on my site, why is the top referrer often Typed/Bookmarked when it doesn't make sense that it would be? We guess internal ads drive to these obscure pages, but when we break down the entry pages report by the marketing channels, we mostly see 'none' values. Regardless, internal ads shouldn't set the referrer to Typed/Bookmarked should it? Does anybody have advice on this issue?

Thanks,

Walter

Hi Walter,

As per: http://helpx.adobe.com/analytics/kb/typed-bookmarked-definition.html

Typed/Bookmarked line items occur in reporting where a referrer for an image request is not present. This issue can occur under any of the following circumstances:

  • A user types your URL directly into their browser
  • A user bookmarks a specific page on your site and references it later
  • Internal URL filters are incorrectly defined
  • The s.referrer variable does not contain data or is blanked out
  • Redirects are implemented without the necessary implementation to keep the referrer beyond the redirect

Typed/Bookmarked most commonly occurs in traffic sources reports.

Please check at your end which of the above conditions apply.

Let me know if it helps you. You can mark it as closed if it solves your query.

Thanks

Akhil
