Workspace Accessibility Improvement

Hey!

Recently, I was working with a user with a vision impairment, who also uses a screen reader for day-to-day work. When walking through his usage of Adobe Workspace via screen-sharing, it appeared that many components in Workspace were not compatible with his screen reader. For example, the links on the pop-up following “Create New Project” were not scraped/did not include alt-text, rendering him unable to create a net-new Workspace. As well, he was unable to expand or collapse panels, build visualizations (not detected by the screen reader), or dragging + dropping dimensions.

The immediate reporting need is addressed as Report Builder and Data Warehouse are accessible, but I thought it might be a good idea to expand accessibility features to Workspace itself. I’m unaware of what Adobe has in their pipeline regarding making Workspace more accessible to users with impairments, and would be happy to start the conversation if it has not been started already.

My understanding is the expectation, at least for short term, would be the inclusion of accessibility features such as alt-text on links that can be detected by a screen reader.

Any thoughts or additional feedback? Thanks!

ericmatisoff? Can you look into this? Sorry to pick on you but you are super active on this board...

A little disappointed no one has responded from Adobe.

Thanks to both of you for bringing this to our attention. Ensuring we think about the vision-impaired is definitely a goal of our UX team. For example, we're very careful when selecting colors used in Workspace visualization to support color-blindness.

Anyway - I'll bring up these ideas to the team to see how we can ensure they are added now and incorporated going forward.

Adding to this thread. I'm working with several users who are also experiencing issues - specifically the soft gray color on the data visualizations is rather low contrast and if the contrast was improved, it would increase accessibility of the reports for people with a variety of visual impairment.

Another thing to note about making the text darker and thus more easily accessible is that, as you can see below, there are aspects of the visualizations that have darker text in addition to the lighter gray text that is of concern. It seems possible at least in parts of the Analytics Workspace to adjust the text color to be darker/more contrasting.

Can someone please update with an ETA of when these improvements will be introduced? Thanks!
